Position Summary:
The Temporary Contracts Attorney will work under the direction and supervision of the General Counsel and will be responsible for representing the organization's needs in the contracts review process which includes drafting and reviewing legal documents, providing legal advice, guidance and instruction that align with A Nonprofit Organization's mission and vision. Research legal issues relevant to the work of A Nonprofit Organization both domestically and internationally as well as perform other duties as assigned. This position is anticipated to be a six-month, 20-25 hours/week temporary position with no offer of continued employment. Consideration may be given to lengthening the time period for this position upon mutual agreement by both parties.

The Temporary Contracts Attorney position is a vital part of the ministry of A Nonprofit Organization and is a dynamic, committed, prayerful and polished professional.

Essential Functions:

Duties:
Spiritual Growth and Development:
  • Prayerfully seek God's will for A Nonprofit Organization in all legal matters.
  • Minister to the needs of fellow staff and colleagues through prayer, Bible study, worship, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.

Contract and Compliance Management:
  • Understand and anticipate the legal needs of the organization.
  • Understand legal issues facing the organization and translate them into easily understood and practical legal advice and counsel.
  • Write, review and advise contracts and contract compliance matters.
  • Research legal issues with the ability to author legal opinions when required.
  • Stay up-to-date on legal changes and developments (i.e. news, legislative changes) in order to assist the organization.
  • Assist as needed in organizational transactions.

Participate in formulating policies and practices for A Nonprofit Organization related to legal compliance.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor and coworkers, including engagement in meetings and planning sessions as necessary and/or as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct that reflects well on A Nonprofit Organization Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).

  • Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
  • Affirms, aligns with and supports A Nonprofit Organization's Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
  • Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on A Nonprofit Organization Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
  • Demonstrates the values of a A Nonprofit Organization leader.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
  • Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Experience:
Five or more years of related legal experience as an attorney in private practice, a non-profit corporation or corporate environment. (Previous experience should prepare the individual for providing mature advice on complex issues)

Licensure / Certification
A current license to practice law in Washington State with no record of attorney discipline in any jurisdiction.

Software / Equipment Knowledge
Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
