Typical Tasks
The Fresno Superior Court is seeking qualified attorneys who are interested in accepting special appointments in the following areas:
  • Minor's Counsel – Family Law
  • Guardian ad Litem - Family Law or Dependency Matters
  • Appointed Counsel – Dependency Cases
  • Appellate Panel – Appellate Division (Traffic, Misdemeanor, and Limited Civil Appeals)
  • CARE Petition Conflict Counsel
  • Civil Indigent Pro Bono Representation
  • Writs of Habeas Corpus
  • Racial Justice Act Appointments

Attorneys with experience in these practice areas, or those interested in serving the Court and the community through appointed representation, are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:
Current active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.

Additional Information:
Court-Appointed Attorney: $306.00 flat fee of for the first 3 hours worked regardless of the actual time spent. $102.00 per hour for the 4th hour and each hour thereafter.

Guardian Ad Litem: $50.00 per hour

Special Circumstance Case Appointments: Compensation will be based on the case category.

The category and applicable fees to be applied to any particular case shall be determined by the Court at the time of approval of an appointment.

The Court retains the right to revise category descriptions and applicable fees at any time. Such revisions shall apply to all appointments made after the revisions are adopted, unless, in the discretion of the Court, it is determined that the revisions shall apply to a pre-existing appointment.
