Summary: Suri Law is a looking for a contract attorney with litigation experience to join our growing team. This attorney will work primarily on commercial litigation and pre-litigation matters and will work directly with the firm's Principal Attorney & Sole Member on a per project basis. We have immediate openings for a highly motivated and organized individual who has strong legal writing, research, and communications skills.

This position will be 0-10 hours a week and has potential for increased hours, an increased hourly rate, and/or to turn into a full time position (with expanded responsibilities) in the future. This position primarily entails remote work. Payment will be commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school (required, non-negotiable);
  • Admitted to practice and in good standing with the New York State Bar (required, non-negotiable);
  • At least five (5) years' experience as a practicing attorney;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to take ownership of work as an individual;
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn;
  • Passion for the practice of law;
  • Litigation experience in New York State and Federal Court;
  • Trial experience;
  • Commercial litigation experience (preferred);
  • General business knowledge and/or experience (preferred);
  • Multiple bar admissions (preferred);
  • Multiple languages (preferred); and
  • Law Review (preferred).

Responsibilities:
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and other documents in the course of litigation;
  • Handle your own cases with oversight from the firm's Principal Attorney;
  • Work with and oversee law clerks and other staff;
  • Trial preparation;
  • Represent clients in administrative matters and business disputes (in and out of court);
  • Draft, negotiate, review, and redline contracts and other documents;
  • Navigate joint representation of multiple clients in one business transaction or lawsuit and exercise sound business and ethical judgement in monitoring the same for any potential conflicts;
  • Conduct yourself with professional integrity;
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required; and
