Job Description:KLDiscovery, a leading global provider of electronic discovery, information governance and data recovery services, is currently seeking a highly skilled Contract Attorney to support the NYPD federal monitorship. This role requires exceptional legal research and writing abilities, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment. The attorney will contribute to ongoing monitoring, compliance review, and reporting responsibilities related to the federal oversight process.
About the role:
Location: New York, NY (Onsite)
Anticipated Duration: 1 year
Start Date: November 2026
Pay Rate: $48–$59 per hour
Schedule: Primarily 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (with some flexibility required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft high‑quality memoranda, reports, and written analyses
- Review, analyze, and summarize legal documents, policies, and compliance materials
- Support the monitorship team in evaluating NYPD practices and adherence to federal requirements
- Assist with preparation of written findings, recommendations, and formal reports
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and maintain accurate documentation
- Manage workload effectively while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of accuracy
Qualifications:
- Active Attorney License in the state of New York is required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Strong legal research and writing skills (required)
- Admission to federal court preferred
- Experience level is flexible — candidates must demonstrate excellent research and writing experience, regardless of years in practice
- Ability to work onsite in New York, NY
- Flexibility with work hours; standard schedule is 10 AM–6 PM
