Description:
Jacobs & Jacobs Injury Law Group is a family-owned personal injury law firm seeking a Washington-licensed Contract Attorney to provide limited, as-needed support to our litigation team.Our current need is primarily for an attorney to assist with minor settlement approval hearings. This is a flexible, project-based opportunity that may be a great fit for an attorney looking to supplement an existing practice or schedule without taking on a traditional caseload.
Our litigation team will handle the underlying case management and provide the information and documentation needed for each assigned matter. The Contract Attorney's role will primarily consist of reviewing the materials provided, preparing for the hearing, and appearing on behalf of the firm and client.
Responsibilities:
- Review minor settlement pleadings and relevant case materials before assigned hearings
- Attend minor settlement approval hearings, either remotely or in person as required
- Coordinate with our litigation attorneys and paralegals regarding assigned matters
- Address routine questions raised by the court during the approval process
- Complete reasonable follow-up related to assigned appearances
Qualifications:
- Active Washington State Bar license in good standing
- Plaintiff personal injury experience preferred, but not required
- Experience with minor settlements or Settlement Guardian ad Litem matters is a plus
- Professional, dependable, and responsive
- Strong communication skills and courtroom presence
- Ability to reliably manage scheduled court appearances
Schedule & Work Arrangement
- This is an as-needed contract position rather than a set weekly schedule. Our current need is primarily for minor settlement hearings and the reasonable preparation associated with those appearances.
- Preparation and coordination can generally be completed remotely. Court appearances may be remote or in person depending upon the court and assigned matter.
- There may be opportunities for additional contract attorney work in the future depending upon the needs of the firm and mutual interest.
Compensation:
$50-$75 per hour, depending on experience.
