Growing personal injury and criminal defense firm based in Chicago-West Loop is looking for a part-time or contract associate (can become full-time) to provide litigation services to clients.

We are looking for an individual that has authentic passion for litigation and who is professional yet aggressive in their litigation strategy. This individual has excellent in communication skills with clients from diverse backgrounds, has empathy for those we serve and a proven track record of successfully litigating personal injury and/or criminal law cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage a pipeline of approximately 10-25 personal injury (and potentially criminal law cases)
  • Experience drafting and responding to motions;
  • Research and brief legal issues, writing persuasive legal documents, and arguing legal cases before state and federal courts.
  • Litigate motions and conduct jury and bench trials.
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend mediations, hearings, and trials as needed.
  • Maintain heavy communication with clients, opposing counsel and adjusters.
  • Negotiate settlements and plea bargains as needed, outside of trial.
  • Offer guidance to clients regarding their legal rights, responsibilities, and optimal strategies pertaining to their cases.
  • Stay updated on evolving laws and regulations relevant to clients' situations, delivering tailored advice and recommendations accordingly.
  • Efficiently manage cases, ensuring organized and effective handling throughout the legal process.
  • Ability to handle complex cases from start to finish.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation. Personal injury law experience is highly preferred.
  • JD required
  • Substantial knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence.
  • Experience in both state and federal court preferred.
  • Pay: Salary commensurate with experience PLUS generous bonuses for cases settled/won at trial. Contingency fee referral opportunities.
