Description:
While others wait for cases to walk through the door, we're already three steps ahead—identifying patterns, preserving evidence, and building the foundation for systemic change. At Bell Law, consumer protection isn't a practice area—it's our sole mission. We're a boutique litigation firm in Kansas City that turns individual injustices into collective accountability. When dozens of families are displaced from condemned apartments, when service members' vehicles are illegally repossessed, when tenants endure years of uninhabitable conditions—we don't just respond. We investigate, we strategize, and we build cases that create lasting impact.
About This Role:
We're looking for a litigation attorney who understands that quality trumps quantity, that thorough investigation beats rushed filings, and that staying ahead of deadlines creates strategic advantage. You'll be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team where deep case development and careful client selection aren't luxuries—they're how we operate.
This isn't high-volume litigation. This is sophisticated federal and state court work where you'll handle everything from initiating class action investigations (like our recent Aspen Place Apartments condemnation case) to prosecuting complex individual matters involving yo-yo financing schemes, FDCPA violations, FCRA disputes, and elder financial abuse.
Recent Work You'd Be Proud to Join:
- $5 million Wells Fargo settlement for SCRA violations - representing service members whose vehicles were illegally repossessed during active duty
- $4.6 million Cross-Lines Retirement Center settlement - class certification and equitable relief for elderly and disabled tenants facing uninhabitable conditions
- $1.9 million Normandy Apartments settlement - compensation for tenants enduring years of substandard living conditions
- Ongoing Aspen Place investigation following mass displacement of residents after building condemnation
- Federal litigation against auto dealers using predatory yo-yo financing schemes
- $2.5 million Central Park Towers settlements addressing mold, rodents, and pest infestations

- In addition to excelling at researching and brief writing, the ideal candidate should be adept at critical thinking, persuasion, the ability to see the big picture, finding and focusing on what's important, and communicating effectively amongst team members, other attorneys, the Court and staff, co-counsel, and outside vendors
