Job Description and Duties:The Consumer Protection Section of the Public Rights Division handles difficult legal work relating to unfair or unlawful acts and practices of businesses and false advertising. Work handled by the section encompasses a broad range of consumer issues including predatory lending, consumer financial products, product safety, legislative analyses and testimony, and appellate work on consumer-related issues.
Under the general supervision of the Senior Assistant Attorney General, the Chief Assistant Attorney General, the Chief Deputy Attorney General, and the Attorney General, the Supervising Deputy Attorney General directs and monitors the work of a team of Deputy Attorneys General and non-attorney legal professionals; personally performs and supervises complex legal work including investigations, trials, appeals, regulatory and legislative matters; evaluates team members' performance; provides training and mentoring to team and section members; handles general administrative matters; and participates in the interview and selection process for team and section members.

Working Conditions:
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on DOJ's current telework policy. While DOJ supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises.
