General Summary:
Qualcomm seeks a Compensation and Benefits attorney to join its in-house legal team supporting Qualcomm's global operations. The successful candidate will serve as a legal resource on compensation, equity incentive plans, employee benefits and employment-related matters, while advising clients on legal risks, process issues, strategies, and developing solutions across various departments in the company.

This role requires full-time onsite work in San Diego, CA (5 days per week).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Advise on the design, implementation, and administration of executive compensation, equity incentive plans, and employee benefit programs.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate compensation, equity/award and benefits related agreements. Provide counsel on compliance with ERISA, IRC Sections 409A, 280G, and other relevant federal and state laws.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, others in Legal, and the Compensation Committee of the Board to prepare compensation-related materials for board and committee meetings.
  • Partner with the Corporate & Securities Legal team to advise on and/or prepare various SEC filings related to executive compensation and employee benefits, including Section 16 filings, Forms 8-K (Item 5.02), Forms S-8 and Proxy Statements (compensation-related sections and equity plan proposals).
  • Monitor evolving laws, regulations, and market trends to proactively recommend program adjustments, both in the US and Internationally. Maintain awareness of legal risks and compliance standards.
  • Advise on compensation/pay equity and benefits legal matters and collaborate across departments and organizations to gather information and develop legal solutions and strategies.
  • Support due diligence and integration efforts in global M&A transactions.
  • Advise on other employment law related matters globally.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm or in-house.
  • Active bar license or other lawful ability to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be located (for example, ability to gain admission as registered in house counsel).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience (with a minimum of 3 years' law firm experience).
  • Proactive, practical approach to legal guidance and risk assessment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Willingness to support global regions, including Europe, North America, and Asia.
  • High integrity and strong performance orientation.

Location:
San Diego, CA (Qualcomm policy is 5 days a week in the office); This position requires travel, as necessary.
