The Opportunity:
We are looking for a skilled Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have New York civil litigation experience in general commercial litigation, creditor's rights, collections and judgment enforcement.
Duties:
As an Associate Attorney, the candidate will have very real and very significant responsibilities, including:
- Work closely with the firm's attorneys, support staff and colleagues in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Handle all aspects of litigation, including trial preparation, investigation, legal research, depositions, court appearances (virtual and in-person) for conferences, motions, inquests and trials; arbitration proceedings
- Draft and review pleadings, motion papers and briefs, discovery demands/responses, correspondence with adversaries and the courts
- Conduct legal research
- Provide timely case updates and strategic guidance to clients through regular reporting and direct communication
- Effectively communicate (written and verbal) with the clients, courts, adversaries and others
- Negotiate settlements
- Serve as a resource and leader to the firm's paralegals by reviewing drafts and answering questions

Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York State bar (admission to NJ and elsewhere a plus)
- 1-3 years of proven NY civil litigation experience, preferably in commercial litigation and collections
- Strong knowledge in New York civil procedure
- Strong legal drafting skills with the ability to write clear and persuasive arguments
- Strong oral advocacy skills and confidence in handling oral arguments and other court appearances
- Excellent research skills with proficiency in using legal research databases like LexisNexis
- Have the desire and qualities of a leader
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to build strong client relationships and deliver outstanding service
- Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines - while keeping calm
- Excellent computer (PC) skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Acrobat Pro, Google Workspace and the ability to quickly learn other business/productivity applications
- Ability to integrate into a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Annual Pay: Starting salary at $130,000, could be higher depending on experience and other factors
