About the role:
As Commercial Counsel, you will have the chance to help build the commercial legal foundation to be our first attorney at our New York office and help An All-In-One Workspace Company meet its ambitious goals. In this role you will be expected to serve as the lead commercial legal counsel supporting our Americas sales team. We are looking for a team member who is excited about our passionate user base and is interested in joining a dedicated cross-functional team that engages with our customers and vendors.

What You'll Achieve:
  • Have broad responsibility for providing practical day-to-day commercial legal support in the Americas while also chipping in to support our global sales, marketing, and success teams
  • Negotiate and independently identify creative legal solutions for commercial transactions, including customer subscription agreements and data processing agreements
  • Support procurement and requesting business teams on negotiation of vendor agreements
  • Identify and independently pursue improvements to our contracting processes
  • Develop and revise contract templates as necessary, based on changes in our product offerings, organization, and privacy laws

Skills You'll Need to Bring:
  • Admitted to the New York State Bar and in good standing
  • 10+ years of combined experience practicing as a commercial attorney within a law firm or software technology company, including 5+ years in-house commercial legal experience at a software technology company
  • Ability to confidently and independently manage and negotiate high visibility SaaS negotiations with enterprise customers
  • Excellent drafting, written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt legal requirements in balanced, creative and pragmatic ways to facilitate communication at all levels of the organization
  • Experience advising sales and marketing teams on privacy regulations (GDPR, e-Privacy Directive, CCPA, etc.) and the ability to incorporate evolving requirements into the customer facing agreements
  • Resilience, resourcefulness, the ability to directly interact and build meaningful relationships and trust with internal and external clients and leaders, and the ability to make recommendations and decisions with imperfect facts

Nice to haves:
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional or equivalent
  • Experience supporting channel and reseller partnerships
  • Familiarity using An All-In-One Workspace Company
