With a five-year transmission capital plan totaling nearly $4 billion, and extraordinary growth in our wholesale power service territory in central Texas, LCRA is seeking a motivated and diligent mid-level transactional attorney (8+ years) with excellent verbal and written communication skills and contract drafting and negotiation experience to further LCRA's mission to enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve through water stewardship, energy and community service.

You will be trusted to:
  • provide comprehensive legal support to LCRA's supply chain group for commercial transactions.
  • draft, review, analyze, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including those for goods and services, construction, professional services, manufacturing, industrial services and maintenance, software, non-disclosure, consulting, and other general business contracts.
  • provide legal and strategic business advice to ensure contracts are consistent with internal policies and statutory requirements to proactively manage legal risks.
  • manage, maintain, and update a suite of commercial contract templates and associated contract playbooks to align with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.
  • collaborate with a variety of internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, including finance, accounting, environmental, cybersecurity, public safety, and others at all levels to ensure that contracts adequately protect LCRA's interests.
  • advise and counsel business units regarding disputes and claims resolution and avoidance to mitigate legal risks to the organization.
  • direct supporting staff to help achieve creative, team-driven solutions to legal matters.
  • direct and coordinate work of outside counsel as the need arises.
  • support other attorneys in defending or prosecuting lawsuits related to transactional matters.

You qualify with:
  • Juris Doctor plus eight or more years of relevant experience practicing law as a licensed attorney in the relevant practice area.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
