Overview:The Claims Attorney's primary objective is to represent An Insurance Company and/or its policyholders in court or legal proceedings.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Represents An Insurance Company and/or its policyholders in routine litigation before trial courts, appellate courts and administrative tribunals statewide.
- Prepares legal documents, memoranda of law and other documents incidental to litigation.
- Advises claims department personnel and policyholders of litigation plans and significant litigation developments.
- Conducts legal research and prepares written opinions.
- Conducts depositions and prepares deposition summaries.
- Other assignments as directed by the Managing Attorney.

Education and Experience:
- Possession of a license to practice law in the State of Louisiana. Candidate may be a graduate from an accredited law school with zero to two (0 - 2) years of legal experience.
- Consideration may be given to those recently graduating attorneys who have clerked for the LWCC legal department while attending law school.
- Areas of concentration will involve learning entry level State Workers' Compensation litigation and Subrogation litigation.
- Movement between attorney levels is not automatic and promotions are not given solely on service years. Promotions are based on: (1) corporate and departmental need; (2) performance and (3) budgetary considerations.
- Skills Required:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; computer literate.

- Significant in-state travel.
