Position Overview:
We are seeking a high-level Civil Litigation Attorney with meaningful courtroom and litigation experience who can take ownership of cases from intake through resolution or trial.
This is not an entry-level or maintenance role. We are looking for an attorney who:
- Is confident in court
- Thinks strategically about cases, not just procedurally
- Can independently manage a variety of civil litigation matters
- Is comfortable handling cases involving real estate, HOA and condominium disputes, landlord-tenant matters, evictions, probate, contracts, and related civil disputes
- Wants to be part of a firm that expects excellence and rewards performance
- You will not be responsible for marketing or business development. We provide the cases. Your role is to analyze, strategize, communicate, and execute at a high level.
What You'll Do:
- Own and manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through disposition or trial
- Develop case strategy early and adjust that strategy as the facts, evidence, and opposing positions evolve
- Handle real estate and property-related disputes, HOA and condominium matters, landlord-tenant litigation and evictions, probate matters, contract disputes, and other civil cases
- Appear regularly in court for case management conferences, hearings, dispositive motions, evidentiary hearings, and trials
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Prepare for and participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and substantive negotiations with opposing counsel
- Draft pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, substantive motions, trial filings, and other litigation documents
- Research and analyze complex legal issues and develop practical strategies for achieving the client's objectives
- Maintain proactive communication with clients. Clients should never have to wonder what is happening in their case
- Collaborate with firm leadership on strategy for complex, high-value, or unusual matters
- Supervise and effectively utilize paralegals and support staff
- Take responsibility for deadlines, case progression, and results
What We're Looking For:
- 4+ years of meaningful civil litigation experience
- Real courtroom experience
- Licensed and in good standing with The Florida Bar
- Experience independently managing contested civil matters
- Strong preference for experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Real estate litigation
- HOA or condominium disputes
- Landlord-tenant litigation and evictions
- Probate litigation
- Contract and business disputes
- Strong motion writing, research, and legal analysis skills
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- Ability to evaluate cases strategically rather than simply move files through the litigation process
- Ability to think quickly, adapt, and perform under pressure
- Strong client communication and case-management skills
- You prepare like you are going to trial, even when the case is likely to resolve
- You understand that every case should have a strategy, not simply a checklist of deadlines
- You do not wait to be told what to do. You own your cases
- You identify problems before they become emergencies
- You communicate clearly, confidently, and consistently with clients, opposing counsel, the court, and your team
- You know when to fight, when to negotiate, and how to position a case for the best possible result
- You are solution-oriented, not excuse-driven
