About the role:
Reed McClure is seeking a full- or part-time Associate Attorney with at least one year of civil litigation experience. We recognize that outstanding attorneys might not have full-time availability, and we're open to reduced-hour arrangements. This position will support senior attorneys in managing a diverse caseload defending (among others) automobile liability, personal injury, and premises liability claims with opportunities to move into insurance coverage, bad faith and extra contractual disputes and other types of litigation. Associates work directly with experienced litigators and are encouraged to take depositions, argue motions, attend mediations, and participate in trial preparation early in their careers.

Responsibilities:
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses
  • Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda on liability, damages, and insurance coverage issues
  • Taking and defending depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
  • Arguing motions in state and federal courts
  • Attending court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Evaluating claims, providing liability and damages analyses, and preparing case assessments for insurance carriers
  • Communicating regularly and effectively with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel
  • Preparing cases for trial, including exhibit lists, witness preparation, trial briefs, and jury instructions
  • Assisting senior attorneys with larger, complex matters as needed
  • Maintaining accurate and prompt timekeeping while meeting annual billable goal of 1,800 hours for full-time status. Reduced-hour expectations are negotiable for part-time attorneys

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar
  • One or more years of litigation experience; insurance defense experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to stay organized, work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize competing tasks
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and a client-focused approach

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation range of $100,000 - $120,000 annually depending on experience for full-time attorneys. Compensation for reduced hours are established proportionately for part-time attorneys.
  • Additional discretionary and non-discretionary bonuses based on performance and hours
  • Fully subsidized employee medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance
  • Hybrid schedule: Attorneys are currently in the office 2-3 days per week, with attendance required on most Wednesdays.
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401(k) with firm contributions
  • Flexible PTO and 11 paid holidays per year
  • Professional development and CLE support
  • Commuter benefits
