Reporting to the CIS General Counsel, the CIS Compliance Attorney serves as the primary point person ensuring that our company complies with relevant laws and policies. This includes staying abreast of developments, interpreting laws in the context of the company's activities and ensuring that key personnel are in possession of necessary information. He or she will be responsible for our company's ethics and compliance program, ensuring that the company exercises due diligence and sound internal controls to operate with integrity and protect against legal risk. The CIS Compliance Attorney will develop and document ethics and compliance policies and procedures and work closely with all levels of CIS to ensure that they are operationalized; and will maintain, implement, and manage all training on compliance-related subjects and hot-line processes. He or she will be responsible for providing legal support to any compliance investigations and audits. The CIS Compliance Attorney will work closely with the senior management and human resources to evaluate and respond to suspected compliance violation, and for consistent enforcement, disclosure, and remedial action protocols. He or she attorney will also review and draft legal documents and advice employees on legal and regulatory issues related to vendors, projects, and sales and marketing.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Defining the necessary level of knowledge on existing and emerging regulatory compliance requirements across the organization.
  • Developing the annual compliance work plan that reflects the organization's unique characteristics.
  • Periodically revising the compliance plan in light of changes.
  • Leading the Compliance team.
  • Overseeing and monitoring the implementation of the organization's Compliance program.
  • Providing guidance, advice, and training on applicable regulatory compliance matters and ethics and compliance matters.
  • Identifies risks that an organization faces and advises on how to avoid or address them.
  • Interacting with regulators on Compliance issues.
  • Coordinating efforts related to audits, reviews, and examinations.
  • Developing policies and programs that encourage managers and employees to report suspected fraud and other improprieties, without fear of retaliation.
  • Coordinating internal compliance review and monitoring activities, including periodic reviews of departments.
  • Independently investigating and acting on matters related to compliance.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a compliance function
  • J.D. or other advanced degree
  • Member of Virginia Bar or able to obtain an In-House Counsel Authorization in Virginia
  • Experience interacting with regulatory authorities
  • Substantial experience with developing and administering government contracts and cybersecurity compliance programs and ethics and compliance programs, and with interpreting, communicating and operationalizing applicable laws and regulations
  • Understanding of OFFCP regulations and adherence
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong ability to form, mentor, and manage efficient teams
  • Ability to obtain security clearance, existing security clearance preferred.
