Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Admission to the New York State Bar and authorization to practice law in New York State (in good standing). Three (3) years of full-time experience in a relevant professional setting and/or through teaching or training experience in the following subject areas; child abuse and maltreatment, Social Services Law, and the Family Court Act. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. (***Out-of-State Applicants, see "Special Notes”).

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior professional experience working with caseworkers. Previous experience delivering training or instruction in child abuse and maltreatment, Social Services Law, and/or the Family Court Act.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Child Protective Services Education Specialist will conduct a series of mandatory training for Child Protective Services (CPS) case workers. Most training will take place in the Albany area at a training facility or virtually on Webex (approx. 50/50 at this time)

Duties:
  • Conduct training in the legal content of NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) mandated courses.
  • Assist with development and revision of curricula. Ensure that all materials are updated according to legislative changes. Ensure that other attorneys are providing updated material consistently across curricula.
  • Work with sponsor and other vendor around scheduling other attorneys for in person and virtual trainings
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

  • The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
  • *Out-of-State Applicants: Please note as a condition of employment and in order for this position to be tendered, the successful incumbent will be required to provide evidence of a valid license and driving abstract from the state issuing the license within five business days of a conditional offer and must obtain a NYS driver's license within 30 days of acceptance of offer.

Travel to Albany is required.
