Job Overview:
Roscommon County an ideal location for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to be part of a community. While it is known for the tri-lakes: Houghton, Higgins, and Lake Saint Helen, there are also miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing and plenty of state land for hunting. The county also hosts a variety of festivals every year to bring the community together including Christmas in the Village, a Night Out with entertainment for children and parents, and several seasonal festivals to celebrate the natural resources. Located just off I-75, it is 30 minutes from Gaylord, and just over an hour from Traverse City, Midland, and Bay City. The applicant will have the opportunity to work in a small office and have a large impact on the criminal justice system. The work hours are flexible aside from scheduled court appearances. In addition to a competitive salary and benefit package, county employees also have the option to join the local recreation center which is within walking distance of the office, and subsidized by the county.

Responsibilities and Duties:
The APA will have the following primary duties: review police reports, make charging decisions, appear in court for a variety of hearings, take testimony at preliminary examinations and jury trials, negotiate plea agreements, occasionally handle appellate issues, and draft/respond to motions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school Member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar Possess sound decision-making skills Be self-motivated
