A Us Based Law Firm is seeking an attorney with a minimum of 4 years of labor and employment litigation experience to join Littler CaseSmart (LCS) as a Littler CaseSmart Counsel, Discovery attorney. The candidate should possess excellent academic credentials, and their experience should include significant litigation work. This position can be worked remotely from anywhere in the United States. Candidate must be licensed to practice law in their state of residence. Pursuant to California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, DC regulation, the salary range is $130,000 to $175,000 annually, contingent on relevant experience and education and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Responsibilities:
Littler CaseSmart Counsel are full-time, remote attorneys with a reduced billable hours requirement and with no obligation to engage in any business-related travel or any required business development. These positions are ideal for attorneys seeking interesting, challenging work that allows more flexibility than on-track roles.
Littler CaseSmart Counsel, Discovery attorneys are responsible for formulating discovery strategies in consultation with the case teams, evaluating discovery options, and analyzing the facts of cases. This position is also responsible for the following:
- Drafting all forms of written discovery requests, including, but not limited to, interrogatories, requests for production of document, requests for admissions, and objections and responses to discovery requests served by plaintiffs.
- Document and evidence management (often in the Relativity environment), including overseeing the organization, staging, and unitization of documents, requesting additional documents needed for the defense of the case, tagging key documents, and preparing documents for production.
- Drafting other discovery-related work product, including protective orders and correspondence with opposing counsel (e.g. meet-and-confer and deficiency letters).
- Partnering with assigned e-Discovery counsel and the firm's Litigation Support team with respect to ESI-related requests.
- Preparing witness kits and identifying key evidence in support of depositions and/or motions and briefs.
- Preparing a draft settlement agreement, depending on when a case settles.
Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should have:
- The ability to discern practical and well-founded options for the effective defense of litigation matters through the discovery process and involving a wide variety of employment-related claims.
- The ability to utilize document and evidence management platforms, including Relativity, in order to organize, manage, and produce documents.
- The ability to understand, collaborate, and navigate through complex e-Discovery issues.
- Experience handling the discovery processes for litigation matters, including all forms of written discovery.
- A minimum of 4 years of legal experience with employment law cases and issues.
- An active bar license in the candidate's state of residence.
