Outten & Golden LLP is seeking a Business Development Intake Attorney to serve as a strategic legal professional bridging the gap between initial client contact and formal representation. The professional in this role will act as the Firm's first point of high-level legal contact, responsible for evaluating complex case merits and client conversion. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of case evaluation, intake, and client management. The person in this role will report to the Firm's Director of Business Development and Communications and be based in either the New York or Washington, DC office (on a hybrid basis).The Firm enjoys a strong national reputation for representing employees, independent contractors, executives and whistleblowers in all areas of employment law—from representing senior executives in contract negotiations, to protecting individuals' civil rights in the workplace, to combating worker exploitation and systemic discrimination in class action and impact litigation and putting hundreds of millions of dollars in the hands of wronged individuals with historic SEC and IRS whistleblower awards. We take pride in our decision to represent employees as advocates for workplace fairness. More recently, the Firm has branched out into new cutting-edge consumer digital-discrimination litigation involving major social media platforms.

Responsibilities:
- Screen potential clients based on established criteria, advise potential clients on potential representation, including single plaintiff or class action approaches, and collaborate with Firm attorneys to complete the initial consultation and client-intake process.
- Work with Firm attorneys to identify new clients and advance business development objectives.
- Regularly track and report on progress and maintain client and potential client information in firm databases.
- Proactively assume other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a combination of employment, educational, and life experience that demonstrates the qualities and skills below:
- Education and Experience: JD required. You have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a plaintiff-side law firm (employment, civil rights, personal injury, or similar) in an attorney intake and case evaluation capacity or as a practicing attorney interfacing with clients and potential clients. You have strong sales skills and the ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, and discretion. You have strong organizational, verbal, written, and in-person communication skills. You possess the ability to show empathy and patience with a genuine desire to help people. You have a demonstrated understanding of attorney advertising and solicitation rules.
- Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: You possess exemplary communication skills, including the ability to express, refine and deliver high-quality ideas to drive our business forward. You express yourself clearly and concisely, both written and verbally, always highlighting the most important information. You proactively communicate the status of your work and share updates with colleagues when necessary. You ensure that your work is mistake free.
- Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential Firm matters.
- Flexibility and Organization: You are comfortable in an environment where your responsibilities may vary from day to day, and you are able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. In doing so, you demonstrate a “no job too big, no job too small” attitude, and take a collaborative approach to your work. You are comfortable balancing tasks of varying urgency and complexity and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Ownership, Initiative, and Teamwork: You take ownership of your projects and follow through on their completion. You proactively anticipate, communicate, and work to independently resolve obstacles you encounter in your work. You possess a strong client-service orientation and ability to work well individually and as part of a team. You are able to establish and maintain strong working relationships with employees, clients, and other professionals.
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation: An attractive compensation package (tailored to experience), with a target base compensation range of $125,000 - $145,000 / year (exempt, commensurate with experience). Outten & Golden offers our employees a robust benefits package including healthcare benefits.
