Description:
Business & Civil Litigation Attorney (Contract-to-Hire | Remote – CA)

Location: Remote (California)

License Required: Active California Bar (in good standing)

Engagement: Part-Time | Contract-to-Hire

The Law Office of Parag L. Amin, P.C. (“LawPLA”) is a fast-growing business litigation and employment defense firm seeking a seasoned litigator to join on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is built for an attorney who can step in immediately, take ownership of active matters, and demonstrate long-term fit through consistent execution, strong judgment, and operational reliability.

Before you continue – we approach hiring the same way we approach our cases: thoughtfully, transparently, and deliberately.

You will operate in a system that values clarity and momentum. You will be trusted with real responsibility and the runway to exercise professional judgment. In return, we expect clean follow-through: deadlines protected, drafting that is ready to file, disciplined discovery, and communication that keeps clients confident and the team aligned.

This is an excellent fit for a litigator who has run matters end-to-end—often in a solo or small-firm setting, or in an autonomous seat within a larger practice—and is now looking for steady, reliable work inside a team that moves fast and stays organized. If you are tired of feast-or-famine business development, inconsistent support, or operational chaos, you will appreciate the structure here.

This is not a training role. You should be able to contribute immediately with minimal supervision and produce court-ready work the team can trust. You write clean, you hit deadlines without reminders, you surface issues early, and you prefer practicing law over chasing invoices, marketing, or administrative drag.

In return, LawPLA offers a fully remote, flexible engagement with consistent workflow, direct access to firm leadership for fast decisions, and established systems with experienced support staff. For the right attorney—someone who executes, communicates well, and aligns culturally—there is a clear path to long-term placement.

INDIVIDUAL APPLICANTS ONLY. NO AGENCIES. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE FIRM DIRECTLY. FOLLOW THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN THIS JOB POSTING.

Responsibilities:
  • Own and drive assigned business litigation and employment defense matters from early case assessment through resolution, maintaining visible momentum and disciplined follow-through.
  • Develop a case strategy and execute against it, including evaluating exposure, leverage points, and practical outcome paths aligned with client goals.
  • Draft and file court-ready pleadings and motion papers, including dispositive motions and motions in limine, with persuasive writing calibrated to the posture of the case.
  • Manage written discovery end-to-end (ROGs, RFPs, RFAs): plan discovery posture, draft clean requests and responses, protect privilege, and drive meet-and-confer through resolution.
  • Prepare for and take/defend fact and expert depositions, translating testimony into leverage, next steps, and strategic adjustments.
  • Support and/or lead discovery motion practice as needed, including drafting motions, oppositions, and supporting declarations/exhibits.
  • Prepare for and participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and other ADR with clear risk analysis, well-defined settlement posture, and disciplined negotiation execution.
  • Advise clients clearly on litigation strategy, risk, options, and practical outcomes, communicating in a steady, business-sensible way that builds confidence and prevents surprises.
  • Coordinate cleanly with leadership and support staff to protect deadlines, maintain case hygiene, and keep files organized and accurate.
  • Communicate proactively with the team to surface issues early, eliminate “mystery gaps,” and prevent last-minute scrambling.
  • Maintain operational reliability: accurate, timely time entries; organized work product; and consistent use of firm systems so the data, docket, and handoffs are trustworthy.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active California Bar license in good standing with a clean disciplinary record.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience preferred (3+ considered if truly autonomous and highly skilled).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage matters independently, including discovery and depositions.
  • Strong command of California civil procedure and evidence.
  • Excellent legal writing and practical litigation judgment—able to convert legal leverage into business-sensible outcomes.
  • Comfortable working remotely with consistent responsiveness and disciplined execution.
  • Prior solo/small-firm ownership experience is a plus (not required), especially if you have handled your own docket end-to-end.
