An AV-Rated Law Firm has a unique opening for a bilingual Managing Attorney at our Albuquerque office. This position will be principally responsible for managing the legal support staff while working as part of a creative and collaborative attorney team. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Directly manage and supervise legal support staff and their caseloads, managing their workloads and supporting time management through regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Support, motivate, inspire and assure the achievement of department and firm production goals
  • Engages in strategic planning to help handle cases efficiently and effectively
  • Organize, structure, and provide coherence to case management overall
  • Review filings, perform legal research and provide direct guidance to Case Managers
  • Troubleshoots legal strategies and issues
  • Meet with clients to address concerns and support legal strategy
  • Train new hires in the Legal Services department and develop and support the ongoing training of all legal staff
  • Prepare clients for interviews and hearings before various state and federal agencies
  • Attend interviews and hearings when needed
  • Provide support and coverage for attorneys and legal support staff as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the firm management team

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor and admission to NM or other state bar.
  • Fully bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Minimum 3 years' post-graduate experience in immigration
  • Minimum 1-year supervisory/management experience
  • Strong project management and organization skills, including the ability to work independently, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work within a team and effectively delegate or accept delegation as needed.
  • Commitment to a client-centered practice with a standard of excellence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for working well with diverse clients, communities, and colleagues, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
