Position Title:Corporate Bankruptcy Attorney
Reports to:
Principal Partners
Function:
Represents the Law Firm, Steele LLP, and the Law Firm's lending and servicing clients in all bankruptcy and bankruptcy adversarial litigation matters referred in the state of California. Duties can include meeting with clients, researching applicable laws, preparing reports, drafting and filing paperwork and appearing in court.
Specific Duties:
- Responsible for the general management and oversight of the bankruptcy department, including supervision of bankruptcy department staff to ensure bankruptcy files are timely handled to meet client expectations, staff is punctual and remains on task, bankruptcy staff work product is of high quality and in line with client requirements and that the bankruptcy department meets the overall goals and objectives of the Law Firm.
- Assists bankruptcy staff, as needed, with responses to client scorecards, scorecard rebuttals and escalated client issues or correspondence
- Review and execute Payment Change Notices, Post-Petition Fee Notices, Transfers of Claim, and Proofs of Claim.
- Performing payment reconciliation for Pre- and Post-Petition payments.
- Sending Notice of Default Letters for loans that have failed to comply with a Relief from Stay Consent Order.
- Answering inbound Bankruptcy calls.
- Update the Law Firm's internal system/s with comments regarding each call, initiate any tasks required, assisting the client with prompt and thorough resolution of their concerns
- Responding to all inquiries from Debtors BK Attorneys, BK Trustee, Law Firm attorneys and staff, etc..
- Conduct Chapter 13 Plan Reviews.
- Attend court hearings (both telephonic and in person).
- Prepare Motions for Relief from the Automatic Stay, Objections to Chapter 13 and 11 Plans, and various pleadings associated with the representation of secured creditors in bankruptcy matters.
- Manage and prepare documents in Contested Hourly Matters including Bankruptcy Adversary Litigation, Motions to Value Collateral, Claim Objections, Motions to Sell Real Property, Motions to Use Cash Collateral and any and all other motions referred on an hourly basis
- Manage assigned case load in manner that meets goals and client expectations.
- Handle escalated and time sensitive matters as needed.
- Other duties and special projects as needed.
Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of Word/Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of PC Docs/Adobe
- Knowledge of Legal Systems such as Pacer and Westlaw
