Summary Job Description
  • Organize Case Files: Monitor calendar, adhere to deadlines, maintain updated client database
  • Appreciate time management and anticipate performance prior to deadlines
  • Develop Cases: Maintain contact with parties, coordinate discovery & investigation
  • Maintain open communication with clients regarding case progression and related cost and expenses control
  • Draft necessary and persuasive documents: Pleadings, motion papers, memoranda, demands, and notices
  • Prepare for trial, including comprehensive analysis and trial notebook assembly
  • Strategize and negotiate settlements of civil disputes
  • Independently ensure efficient capture of expected billable hours
  • Comprehensive legal research

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate
  • Mus have admission to New York State Courts
  • Must obtain admission to Federal District Courts within 18 months of employment
  • Strong understanding of the rules of procedure
  • Introductory knowledge of trial court rules
  • Demonstrated command of legal research
  • Ability to assess case-specific needs, including independent and collaborative efforts as warranted
  • 1-2 years of drafting motion papers or pleadings
  • Internship/Externships experience preferred
  • Computer literacy necessary including modern software and database operations
  • Punctuality in work performance, attendance, court appearances
