Summary Job Description- Organize Case Files: Monitor calendar, adhere to deadlines, maintain updated client database
- Appreciate time management and anticipate performance prior to deadlines
- Develop Cases: Maintain contact with parties, coordinate discovery & investigation
- Maintain open communication with clients regarding case progression and related cost and expenses control
- Draft necessary and persuasive documents: Pleadings, motion papers, memoranda, demands, and notices
- Prepare for trial, including comprehensive analysis and trial notebook assembly
- Strategize and negotiate settlements of civil disputes
- Independently ensure efficient capture of expected billable hours
- Comprehensive legal research
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate
- Mus have admission to New York State Courts
- Must obtain admission to Federal District Courts within 18 months of employment
- Strong understanding of the rules of procedure
- Introductory knowledge of trial court rules
- Demonstrated command of legal research
- Ability to assess case-specific needs, including independent and collaborative efforts as warranted
- 1-2 years of drafting motion papers or pleadings
- Internship/Externships experience preferred
- Computer literacy necessary including modern software and database operations
- Punctuality in work performance, attendance, court appearances
