Our agency is led by Secretary Janet Stanek, who was appointed by Gov. Kelly in Dec 2021. KDHE is comprised of three divisions: Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance (which includes the State's Medicaid program, KanCare). We are the only agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof which allows us to take a holistic approach to improving and protecting the health and well-being of all Kansans.

Compensation:
Annual Pay Range: $80,000 - $88,000
Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

File administrative orders, participate in prehearings and administrative hearings, and occasionally file briefs. Communicate with other attorneys and advise agency personnel regarding legal issues associated with Public Health programs. Provide legal advice to agency staff and programs regarding legal issues that arise.
Review and approve contracts from programs; review and approve regulations when needed.
As an attorney and handle matters regarding Kansas Open Records Act (KORA), Kansas Open Meetings Act, and records retention. Communicate with persons filing open records requests and advise agency staff on legal issues associated with KORA requests. Timely responses are required to when responding to requests.

Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
Must have Juris Doctorate and valid KS bar license and be in good standing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Kansas or temporary permit to practice law issued by the Supreme Court of Kansas at the time of hire.
