OU HSC is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. We are looking for an Attorney to join the team.

This position provides legal services and advice to the departments and colleges at the OU Health Sciences Center and HSC programs at OU Tulsa, including faculty grievances/appeals, student grievances/appeal, regulatory compliance, contract review, and other duties as assigned.

Duties:
  • Primary responsibility is to provide general higher education legal services.
  • Secondary responsibility to render professional services in the areas of transactional law.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Job Requirements---
Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) from an American Bar Association (ABA) law school AND:
  • 12 months experience as an attorney or legal experience

Certifications/Licenses: License to practice law in Oklahoma (and be in good standing), or anticipate to be licensed in the State of Oklahoma within 30 days.

Preferences:
  • 3-7 years of experience as an attorney or legal experience
  • Higher education law experience

Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Westlaw
  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff
  • Must have impeccable legal research and writing skills
  • Must be self-motivated and exhibit strict adherence to professional and ethical behavior
  • Exceptional skills in accurately presenting factual and legal theories and arguments
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Must be proactive and able to assist the management, delegation, and coordination of tasks, as needed
  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Composition and proofreading skills
