The Legal Aid Society of Rockland County, Inc. (LASRC) is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate attorney with a passion for equal justice to join our Civil Division.

The current opening is for the Civil Division-Housing Unit to: (1) represent tenants in eviction proceedings; (2) commence affirmative litigation and pursue non-litigation strategies aimed at protecting and securing low-income tenants' rights; and (3) provide community legal education for clients and social service agencies.

LASRC is a nonprofit law firm dedicated to providing high-quality legal representation to vulnerable residents of Rockland County, New York. Applicants must have:
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills;
  • Dedication to helping underserved people and communities;
  • Commitment to fighting racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression; and
  • Interest in and willingness to represent individual clients as well as address systemic issues.
  • Applicants must be admitted to the New York State Bar or be eligible to practice in New York until admission (including law graduates and attorneys admitted in other states). Fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole or Yiddish is a plus but not required.

Salary range: $68,651.00 - $128,601.00 annually depending on experience.
