Assistant County Counsel assigned to the Monmouth County Division of Social Services
The County of Monmouth is seeking a full-time Assistant County Counsel, assigned to the Division of Social Services (DSS).
The primary duty will be providing legal representation for DSS in Monmouth County Superior Court, Family Division, involving child support matters. This includes appearing before the Child Support Hearing Officers and Family Division judges. Such hearings involve implementing the New Jersey Child Support Program by establishing and modifying child support orders in cases where there is an assignment of rights to DSS in active welfare cases per State and Federal law.
Other duties include but are not limited to providing legal advice and representation to the various DSS welfare programs. Such programs include Medicaid, Child Support and Housing programs.
The attorney will also be responsible for representing DSS in Administrative Fair Hearings; providing legal representation in Administrative, Civil and Family court matters; providing legal advice and recommendations to the child support unit; and conducting legal research.
The ideal candidate should possess strong communication and legal writing skills.
The position will be located in the Monmouth County Counsel's Office and under the general supervision of the County Counsel, as well as reporting on the day-to-day operations and duties directly to the Director of the Division of Social Services.
Education requirements: JD from an accredited law school.
Licenses: Active valid license to practice law in the State of New Jersey and in good standing.
