Our law firm is seeking an ambitious and growth-minded Pre-Litigation Managing Attorney to join our team at Skinner Accident & Injury Lawyers. This attorney will oversee the full lifecycle of pre-litigation cases, from immediate contact with signed clients through resolution or transfer to litigation. This person will lead the team that ensures clients obtain all appropriate medical care, including ensuring this medical care is appropriately financed.

Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight

• Supervise and support case managers, demand writers, and other pre-litigation staff.
• Ensure timely and thorough investigations of liability and insurance coverage.
• Monitor and improve department KPIs, including: time on desk, average case settlement, and cases settled for policy limits.
• Collaborate with firm leadership to refine and implement pre-litigation strategies.

Client Advocacy & Case Management

• Ensure clients receive all necessary and recommended medical treatment.
• Oversee resolution of medical billing issues and lien negotiations.
• Maintain high standards of client communication and satisfaction.

Legal Work & Hearings

• Prepare and handle all infant settlement petitions and hearings.
• Prepare and handle all wrongful death petitions and hearings.
• Review and approve demand packages for completeness and legal accuracy.
• Negotiate settlements directly with insurance adjusters to maximize client recovery.
• Strategically determine when cases should be escalated to litigation.

Investigations:

• Direct and coordinate investigations on complex cases.
• Hire and manage private investigators, accident reconstructionists, and other experts as needed.
• Ensure all investigative efforts are thorough, timely, and well-documented.

Qualifications:
Education & Licensure

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing (or ability to quickly waive in) to Maryland, West Virginia, or Virginia (preferably all).

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in personal injury law, with a strong understanding of negotiations.
• Experience in handling settlement petitions and court hearings is a strong plus.

Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in case management software and legal technology tools.
