Our law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Attorney specializing in Guardianship and Behavioral Health Law (Marchman Act). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in courtroom procedures and a deep understanding of guardianship and behavioral health legal matters. The candidate will be a self-starter and will be comfortable in a courtroom and handling assigned legal cases.

Responsibilities:
Legal Representation:
  • Provide expert legal representation to clients in matters related to guardianship and the Marchman Act.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each case.
  • Prepare and file necessary legal documents, petitions, and motions.

Courtroom Advocacy:
  • Attend court hearings and proceedings on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare clients for court hearings
  • Present compelling arguments and evidence to support client cases.
  • Engage in negotiations and settlements when appropriate.

Client Consultation:
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and concerns.
  • Provide clear and concise legal advice to clients.
  • Keep clients informed about the progress of their cases.

Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, legal professionals, and staff within the firm.
  • Work closely with external stakeholders, including social workers, medical professionals, and court officials.

Compliance and Ethics:
  • Ensure all legal activities and processes comply with relevant laws and ethical standards.
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and case law related to guardianship and behavioral health.

Documentation and Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.
  • Prepare detailed reports for clients and the firm as needed.

Professional Development:
  • Stay informed about developments in guardianship and behavioral health law.
  • Attend continuing legal education (CLE) programs to enhance expertise.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar in Florida.
  • 3-5 years of experience in guardianship and behavioral health law.
  • Proven courtroom experience is a must.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
