Job Description and Duties:Under the general direction of the Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel, the Attorney IV will handle the most difficult and sensitive legal issues involving the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) and advises personnel at the highest levels of government regarding his/her/their area of expertise. The Attorney IV, Chief Privacy Officer is a legal specialist in privacy, data release, data use and sharing contracts, compliance, legislation, policies, and procedures, and is involved with litigation strategy, legal research, and opinion drafting on the most complex legal issues facing DSH. The Attorney IV, Chief Privacy Officer must operate with minimal direction. The Attorney IV, Chief Privacy Officer functions in a lead capacity and mentor with respect to other attorneys within the Legal Division. The Attorney IV, Chief Privacy Officer may be assigned primary research/investigative and decision-making authority, subject to a higher-level review, for matters within his/her/their unique area of subject matter expertise.

Working Conditions:
- This position will report to either the Allenby Building in Sacramento or Metropolitan State Hospital located in Norwalk. A hybrid Telework schedule, consistent with the State of California's in-office requirement, may be considered with prior approval from management.
- The State's Commute Programs provide bicycle, mass transit and vanpool incentives to eligible state employees. The State's mass transit incentive pays 100% of the transit pass up to the IRS maximum of $325 per month in 2025.
- Travel may be required, up to 25%.
- DSH-Sacramento is located at an 11 floor high rise building.
