State Fund's Legal Subrogation department is seeking a dynamic Attorney III to join an elite legal team. In this role, you will represent State Fund in handling and litigating workers' compensation subrogation cases and assignments before various legal bodies, including the DWC (Workers' Compensation Appeals Board), California Civil Courts, Federal Civil Courts and other administrative bodies.

Position may be filled at one of the following State Fund locations: Glendale, Pleasanton, Redding, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, or Santa Ana.

Under the direction of a Supervising Attorney or Assistant Chief Counsel you will:
  • Represent State Fund in litigating the most complex, sensitive, and difficult civil cases
  • Provide corporate advice and transactional matters and assignments necessary to defending and reducing State Fund's legal exposure
  • Handle civil litigation before State or Federal Courts, administrative agencies, and arbitration boards and/or representation in connection with corporate advice matters and transactions
  • Participate in project-based work and handle matters requiring coordination of multiple parties and issues
  • Conduct contract review and negotiation; addressing regulatory matters; participating in task forces and legal projects, and conducting legal research
  • Advise State Fund's Directors, Executives, Officers, Managers, Attorneys, Employees and Representatives, and stakeholders.

New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.

Working Conditions:
Telework may be available and is subject to change based on State Fund guidelines and business needs.

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.
