State Compensation Insurance Fund's (“State Fund's”) San Francisco Legal Unit is seeking a passionate Attorney (Attorney III or Attorney I underfill) to join our exceptional legal team defending California's insured employers and state agencies. Who we are looking for:
Experienced (Attorney III) or newly admitted (Attorney I) with a passion for litigation. No prior workers' comp experience required for Attorney I.

Your Role:
As a vital member of our team, you'll enjoy a diverse and fulfilling role. You will:
- Draft compelling pleadings, conduct discovery, and negotiate settlements
- Skillfully negotiate and draft settlements
- Make confident court appearances, including trials
- Analyze orthopedic and psychiatric medical reports to build strong cases
This position can be filled in: Alameda, Sonoma, or San Francisco county.

Working Conditions:
To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 state application, resume, and statement of qualifications via CalCareers. Resumes submitted in lieu of the STD 678 may not be accepted. Completed STD 678 must include full duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held.
Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.
Candidates must reside in California to be eligible for this appointment.
Special Requirements:
The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
Location:
Based in San Francisco, with primary appearances at San Francisco and Oakland Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) district offices and federal venues. The successful candidate may also be required to appear at other WCAB offices and locations on occasion. Out of state travel may also be required when representing State Fund in U.S. L&H matters.
This position offers the flexibility of remote work. However, to facilitate local in-person hearings, we seek candidates located within San Franciso, Alameda or nearby counties. Reimbursement for local travel will be provided within the allowable mile radius. Please apply only to this San Francisco Bay Area position it it's your preferred location.
