Summary:
Provides day to day legal counsel and operational support within a defined business or legal domain. This role works closely with business partners to ensure legal guidance aligns with business objectives and approved risk tolerance.

Job Duties:
  • Provide day to day legal advice and guidance to business partners.
  • Support department leadership on complex or escalated matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and legal documents.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to support execution of TJU initiatives.
  • Identify legal risks and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining quality and responsiveness.

Additional Duties:
  • Investigates facts and circumstances relating to actual or threatened commercial, business, contract and other disputes and manages disputes and litigation matters as assigned.
  • Serves as a liaison between Jefferson Office of Legal Affairs, internal Jefferson stakeholders and outside counsel regarding disputes and litigation matters.
  • Coordinates and oversees discovery efforts, including document preservation, legal hold implementation and compliance.
  • Reviews pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements and other litigation-related documents.
  • Assists in developing litigation strategies and provides recommendations regarding legal risk, settlement opportunities, and dispute resolution approaches.
  • Drafts, reviews and revises correspondence, demand letters, response letters, settlement communications, litigation-related memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Interfaces with claimants, opposing parties, opposing counsel, witnesses, experts, and other external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Works closely with business leaders and other attorneys to communicate regarding open litigation matters and disputes, identify litigation risks, implement risk mitigation strategies, and improve organizational practices.
  • Maintains accurate litigation records and supports the administration of legal matter management, document management, and other legal department systems.
  • Performs non-litigation related legal duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
  • 5 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal analysis skills.
  • Experience providing practical, solution oriented legal advice.
  • Comfort operating in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills and responsiveness to tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate and work cohesively as part of a team.
  • ATTY - Licensed Attorney - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Physical Demands:
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
