Stein Sperling is seeking an accomplished Commercial Litigation Counsel or Senior Counsel to join our growing Litigation Department. This is a senior trial attorney role for a litigator prepared to lead complex commercial matters from case assessment through verdict. The position is preferably based onsite in our Rockville, Maryland office; remote arrangements will be considered for candidates willing to travel to Rockville and to court locations as needed.

Stein Sperling is seeking an accomplished Commercial Litigation Counsel or Senior Counsel to join our growing Litigation Department. This is a senior trial attorney role for a litigator prepared to lead complex commercial matters from case assessment through verdict. The position is preferably based onsite in our Rockville, Maryland office; remote arrangements will be considered for candidates willing to travel to Rockville and to court locations as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Lead complex commercial litigation matters from case assessment and pleadings through trial and, where applicable, appeal.
- Serve as first chair at trials, arbitrations, and evidentiary hearings in state and federal courts.
- Develop and drive litigation strategy, and oversee the drafting of dispositive motions, discovery, and complex legal memoranda.
- Manage client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact on active matters.
- Argue dispositive and other substantive motions in court.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
- Mentor and supervise associates and paralegals on case teams.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm setting.
- Extensive courtroom experience, including first chair experience in bench and jury trials.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a litigation caseload and lead case teams.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, analytical, and legal writing skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Maryland Bar required; District of Columbia and Virginia Bar admissions a plus.
