About This Role:
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Office of Legal Services (OLS), Program Integrity and Compliance Branch (PICB) is seeking an Attorney to join the OLS team. The Attorney positions are crucial in reaching our mission of providing Californians with access to affordable, integrated, high-quality health care, including medical, dental, mental health, substance use treatment services and long-term care. Help us actualize our vision to preserve and improve the overall health and well-being of all Californians. Telework is subject to DHCS' Telework Program guidelines.
The Program Integrity and Compliance Branch (PICB) provides advice and counsel to support DHCS program implementation, policy development and ongoing administration; program integrity including fraud, waste, and abuse and compliance efforts (audits and investigations and appeals); compliance and enforcement activities related to human resources, civil rights, communications, administration, managed care and Alcohol and Other Drug treatment programs; privacy and information security policies and practices; Public Records Act (PRA) functions; and conflict of interest issues. The PICB also provides litigation support to the State and United States Departments of Justice.
The Attorney will represent DHCS in administrative hearings, perform legal research, draft legal opinions and memorandums, and provide house counsel advice to DHCS programs. The Attorney will draft a variety of documents, assist in applying law to specific factual situations, support trial counsel in litigation.
The Attorney qualifies for a "Hire Above Minimum" (HAM) salary. The starting salary for the classification will be: $8,846 (Range A) or $9,956 (Range B).
