Summary:
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties:
  • You will interact with judge advocates assigned to the Marine Corps Defense Services Organization (DSO), legal advisors, and practitioners to ensure the effective provision of criminal defense services.
  • You will provide expertise on litigation DSO-wide including training and case specific consultations to DSO judge advocates for sexual assault and similarly complex cases.
  • You will provide support to trial defense counsel in all aspects of case prep, motion drafting, expert witness prep, devising trial strategy, assisting with post-trial matters, and proving advice concerning professional responsibility issues.
  • You will advise and assist the Chief Defense Counsel of the Marine Corps (CDC) in assessing and resourcing requirements to ensure the DSO is capable of providing consistent and effective representation.
  • You will have significant, validated, and recent expertise and leadership in military justice or complex civilian criminal litigation as a trial-level attorney.
  • You will demonstrate advanced proficiency in authoritative legal advice, assistance, training in complex criminal litigation, multi-disciplinary representation, capital litigation, and act as a teacher/instructor.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Attorney license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing expertise in litigation, support to trial defense counsel, supporting all aspects of trial prep, and advanced trail experience with multi-disciplinary representation.
