Summary:This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Strategic Operations and Regulatory Affairs (OSORA), Office of Attorney Advisor (OAA).
As a ATTORNEY ADVISER, GS-0905-14, you will review administrative adjudicatory decisions for the purpose of identifying and analyzing complex legal issues in order to provide advice and recommend actions concerning these issues and to develop proposed agency actions.
Duties:
- Review and analyze decisions and records of the Provider Reimbursement Review Board (PRRB).
- Develop recommendations for the Administrator's/Deputy Administrator's approval as to proposed agency actions.
- Coordinate and develop agency's position concerning adverse court decisions which subsequently may result from administrative adjudicatory decisions.
- Evaluate and respond to legal and technical arguments advanced by sophisticated legal and actuarial counsel representing Medicare Advantage organizations in proceedings involving very large sums of money.
- Analyze and resolve highly complex issues at the intersection of Medicare Advantage law, actuarial methodology, and medical coding standards, where cases are frequently of first impression as the RADV program continues to evolve.

- Analyzing Legal Issues to Draft Decisions or Documents; And

License: A Current, Valid License with Eligibility to Practice Law in A State, the District of Columbia, or Any United States Territory or Commonwealth Is a Continuing Condition of Employment for Federal Attorneys.
