The Clayton Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender III. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position. This Assistant Public Defender will be responsible for preparing and presenting cases at various stages, including arraignments, preliminary and pretrial hearings. The chosen candidate will also be responsible for maintaining a challenging caseload, remaining current on emerging law, and drafting legal briefs. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, as well as have a strong commitment to indigent defense.

Job Description: Assistant Public Defender III
Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university and license to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring or reciprocity and two (2) years of relevant legal -experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 2 (LEP021).
