Description of Work:
This position provides legal support to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission by preparing cases, conducting research, and assisting with enforcement of discrimination laws. It plays a key role in helping the Commission complete investigations, support prosecutions, and educate the public. As an Attorney 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Case Prosecution: Prepare and prosecute discrimination complaints and represent the Commission on appeals
- Legal Support: Assist staff by providing legal opinions and guidance on discrimination cases
- Document Preparation: Draft subpoenas, responses to motions, and Rules to Show Cause
- Case Review: Examine proposed findings, conciliation agreements, and consent orders
- Legal Research: Conduct research on laws and regulations related to discrimination enforcement
- Public Outreach: Respond to citizen inquiries and present information on discrimination law to groups

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
