An Orlando Tax Attorney is looking to hire an Associate Tax Attorney with 1 – 10 years of experience. We are a high end boutique law firm practicing ONLY tax controversy and litigation and have cases involving IRS audit and collection matters, Tax Court and District Court litigation cases, as well as Florida Department of Revenue cases (and other state taxing authorities).

We are looking for an attorney who is compassionate and cares about the clients; someone who wants to stay with us for the long haul, doing meaningful and impactful work while maintaining a good work-life balance and flexibility. We are a friendly, family-oriented office. We are in casual dress so long as there are no client or IRS appointments. We have support staff to assist on cases and a limited case inventory so we can work cases proactively.

You are a key player in our team and will handle client matters in a smooth, friendly, efficient and empathetic manner. Tax law is far from boring and involves way more than numbers. You must be a highly motivated self-starter, detail and follow-through oriented, have great language skills and work well independently and as part of a team. Billable hour requirement is 1800 hours per year. Alternative billable hour requirement available with reduced salary.

The position is located in Orlando, Florida.

Main duties:
  • Representing clients in audit, collections, state court, Tax Court and District Court matters.
  • Determining courses of action in tax controversy matters.
  • Drafting correspondence, protests, and other documents in controversy and litigation matters.
  • Working within a case management system.
  • Reviewing and analyzing tax returns, accounting reports, and other financial documentation.
  • Meeting and consulting with current and potential clients.
  • Working with support staff and reviewing the work of team members.
  • Conducting research in tax statutes, regulations, case law, revenue rulings, revenue procedures, internal revenue manual, etc.

Qualifications:
  • MUST be a member of a Bar of any U.S. State or territory. Florida Bar membership NOT required.
  • LL.M. Tax preferred but not required. Tax knowledge required.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret the Internal Revenue Code and Florida Statutes.
  • Experience with IRS collection procedures preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.

  • Organized and efficient and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft office software.

Education:
  • J.D. required. LL.M. (Tax) preferred.
  • MUST be a member of a Bar of any U.S. State or territory. Florida Bar membership NOT required.
