D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Associate Region Counsel. The right candidate, under the direction of the Region Counsel, will, provide support, assistance and advice on all region's legal matters, with an emphasis on land acquisition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.:

Provide legal advice related to land acquisition, development, and disposition, including drafting contracts and related documents, working with division personnel, and consulting with and coordinating outside counsel as necessary
Review and revise homebuyer contract documents
Provide advice regarding RESPA issues, FHA/VA compliance and other issues
Review, negotiate and revise subcontractor contract documents and disputes
Review, negotiate and revise commercial lease documents for premises leased by the divisions
Respond to government inquiries and complaints
Provide advice regarding legal issues in construction, home sales and warranty
Investigate, negotiate and resolve homebuyer and homeowner disputes
Provide advice regarding various region matters and ensure that region and division policies , procedures and contracts comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Review marketing contracts and programs and draft documentation and disclosures as necessary
Coordinate outside counsel as necessary
Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to travel overnight

Supervisory Responsibilities:
May directly supervise 1 or more employees in the Legal Department in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:

Must possess a Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.) and be a licensed attorney in the State of Arizona
Five to ten years of real estate / development experience
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email.
Ability to sit for majority of workday, use a computer keyboard and monitor, speak and hear
