Primary Responsibility:
To handle mortgage-related litigation files as lead counsel in State, Federal and Bankruptcy Courts.

Primary Accountabilities:
  • Provide legal advice to the Firm's mortgage servicing clients
  • Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes
  • Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and any other necessary legal documentation during the course of litigation in State Circuit Court, Probate Court, Appellate Courts, Federal District Court, and Federal Bankruptcy Court, State and Federal.
  • Handle civil litigation cases from referral to resolution, which may necessitate the use of written and oral advocacy, motion practice, discovery, trial preparation, trial, and appellate court briefing and argument.
  • Participation in mediation, willingness and ability to understand complex loan documentation and loss mitigation processes

Skills / Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Doctor of Jurisprudence. 2-5 years' experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State and Federal Courts in Texas, including Bankruptcy Court and the Eighth or Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • 4+ years' experience preferred in finance or representation of financial institutions in real estate related matters.
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work through complex mortgage-related issues.
