Associate Legal Counsel
Irvine, CA/ Full-time
Your Responsibilities:
The Associate Legal Counsel will have exposure to a wide range of legal issues relating to Company business, including product liability and safety, advertising law, employment law, corporate governance, and customer service-related legal support. The Associate Legal Counsel will work with and support other members of the Legal and Compliance team in addition to working directly with business clients.
- Provides advice and counsel on product safety and liability issues.
- Helps manage product liability-related litigation matters and claims with internal team and outside counsel.
- Provides legal support to Customer Service department.
- Provides legal support to Marketing department, including review of proposed advertising claims.
- Provides advice and counsel on employment law issues.
- Assists with corporate governance and record keeping, including preparation of Board resolutions and maintenance of business licenses.
- Conducts legal review of product manuals and quick reference guides.
- Manages aspects of outside counsel relationships, including invoice and purchase order processing.
- Collaborates with legal and compliance colleagues throughout North America and internationally.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Your profile
- Doctorate (Juris Doctorate) – Required
- 0-2 Years of Experience (Experience with general corporate law) – Required
- 0-2 Years of Experience (Experience with some or all of the job functions listed above.) – Preferred
- Experience with some or all of the job functions listed above.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all client and business matters.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Ability to be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through on multiple projects
- Ability to work in collaborative teamwork environment and share information with the appropriate parties.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and a demonstrable ability to learn any department specific software.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment.
- Potential domestic and international travel by car, airplane- can include overnight and weekends.
- Must have a JD degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of one or more state bars within the U.S.
- Travel Percentage – 10%
