Litigation Associate – Environmental Law Practice Group
Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is an established full-service law firm seeking to add a litigation associate to our Environmental Law practice group on a full-time basis. Requirements:
- 1-3 years experience working in a legal environment (in-house and/or law firm).
- Position requires superior communication, advocacy, drafting, writing, research and analytical skills, with the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
- Successful candidate will be encouraged to develop and maintain a high level of professional expertise and visibility.
- Graduate in top 20% of reputable and accredited law school.
- Although not limited to candidates with specific work experiences, preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following categories:
- Complex civil litigation, in federal and state court, involving toxic torts, environmental cost recovery, insurance coverage for contaminated property, and/or class and mass tort actions.
- Administrative litigation involving the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, U.S. EPA or the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
- Interpreting and applying major federal environmental laws, regulations and guidance documents (e.g. CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, CAA, CWA, NEPA) and state law corollaries.
- Solid work ethic and ambitious in a team context — not at expense of team.
- Problem-solving manner, ability to work with variety of personalities and under pressure.
- Team-oriented, including experience working in groups (with lawyers, paralegals, as well as clients and their other advisors).
- Client service orientation and high touch responsiveness expected.
- Possess high moral character, hard-working mindset and practical knowledge.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills for use working internally with other team members and while advising clients.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with technology – ideally, self-sufficient in generation of routine work product.
