Job Summary:We are seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Immigration Attorney who is passionate about the law and enjoys finding creative solutions to our client's legal issues. This is an in-person position, requiring in office work Monday-Friday. Some commuting to the detention center in Tacoma, Washington may be required.
The position requires being a strong advocate for our clients and the willingness to work hard to achieve the best results. This challenging role will involve a wide variety of immigration-related cases, including family-based petitions, removal defense, crimmigration, asylum applications, appeals, and more. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Legal Services: Represent clients in a range of immigration matters, including family based petitions, waivers, naturalization, humanitarian cases, removal defense and appeals.
- Client Advocacy: Work closely with clients to understand their needs, assess their immigration options, and guide them through the legal process with clear communication and professionalism.
- Research & Strategy Development: Conduct legal research on immigration laws, policies, and precedents to develop case strategies and provide informed advice.
- Prepare Legal Documents: Draft and review immigration applications, petitions, appeals, and motions for relief.
- Court & Agency Representation: Represent clients before USCIS, Dept of State, EOIR and the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Mentorship & Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge, refine case strategies, and contribute to a supportive work environment.
- Continuing Education: Stay up-to-date on evolving immigration laws, policies, and regulations to ensure the highest level of service for clients.
Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensing: Active membership in good standing with the bar in any State with a preference to Oregon or the willingness to join the Oregon State bar.
- Experience: Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, with preference given to a candidate with some with knowledge of immigration law. Experience working as a paralegal or accredited representative will also be given value.
- Valid Driver License and Transportation: Our firm represents clients who are detained at the Northwest ICE processing center in Tacoma, WA. Must be willing and able to drive to Tacoma, WA.
- Skills: Bilingual in Spanish and English is a must. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to build rapport with clients, and attention to detail.
