Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Contracting & Legal Operations
- Own and oversee the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and approving customer agreements, NDAs, channel/partner agreements, etc.
- Establish and maintain contract templates, playbooks, approval frameworks, and negotiation guidelines to drive consistency and efficiency.
- Advise business leaders on contractual risk, liability allocation, indemnification, data protection obligations, and commercial terms.
- Partner closely with Sales, Finance, Product, and Security to align contract terms with business strategy and operational requirements.
- Support ongoing improvements to legal processes, systems, and tooling to enable efficiency and scale.
- Serve as the company's primary legal owner of data privacy compliance.
- Design, implement, and maintain the company's data privacy framework, including compliance with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other applicable global privacy regulations.
- Oversee data protection policies, procedures, and documentation, including privacy notices, data processing agreements, and internal guidelines.
- Advise the business on data handling practices, vendor risk, etc.
- Partner with Security, IT, and Product teams while maintaining appropriate independence and legal oversight for privacy governance.
- Act as the primary point of contact for privacy-related inquiries, escalations, and regulatory interactions, as needed.
- Partner with the HR team to provide legal guidance on employmentmatters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Advise on employment law compliance across applicable jurisdictions and support risk-based decision making.
- Review and contribute to the development and maintenance of employee handbooks, policies, and HR documents.
- Support sensitive people-related matters with sound judgment, confidentiality, and a practical, business-oriented approach.
- Assist with board and equity matters, entity management, and corporate secretary duties.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, including employment, immigration, privacy, litigation, and commercial specialists, as appropriate.
- Provide legal and ethical guidance to leadership on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and operational challenges.
- Contribute to building a strong legal function that balances risk management with business enablement.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 8+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house experience in a technology or SaaS environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial contracting and data privacy compliance, with working knowledge of employment law.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance.
- Excellent judgment, communication skills, and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
