Description:

The Risk Organization Counseling team provides strategic legal advice to Meta's Central Risk Org on central privacy initiatives, and to lawyers, product and engineering teams across the company on privacy regulatory response. The team is looking for an experienced lawyer who is interested in taking on a leading role in supporting central privacy initiatives across Meta, including the product risk review process, and privacy compliance workstreams. Your role will require close partnership with product & privacy counsels, product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to ensure robust privacy compliance and risk mitigation.

Associate General Counsel, Privacy and Central Risk Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic guidance for risk teams as expert liaison for central product review and launch processes, and their day to day implementation, to ensure robust central compliance
  • Counsel on strategy and legal risk mitigation for global regulatory workstreams and initiatives across various jurisdictions, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Create, develop, and deliver training documents for new privacy feature launches for leadership and the broader legal department

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution
  • Active and in good standing bar license in at least one U.S. state or equivalent foreign bar license. Where the jurisdiction of licensure differs from the location in which the role is based, the ability to promptly obtain permission to practice law for Meta in that location
  • 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm, in-house, or in government
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, privacy programs and industry guidelines
  • Experience identifying and mitigating privacy risks in complex product and regulatory environments
  • Experience communicating legal advice to clients at varying levels
  • Demonstrated business judgment and client counseling skills
  • Effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience with privacy/product review processes and privacy law
  • Collaboration skills and experience driving alignment among multiple stakeholders
  • Problem-solving mindset with demonstrated ability to develop and improve processes and frameworks
  • Experience in developing training materials and delivering communications to different audiences
  • Experience of advancing simultaneous projects in a multi-stakeholder environment
