Job Description:
Primary Function of Position:
Helps lead the company's litigation strategy and effectively manages all aspects of legal disputes and litigation matters, including management of outside counsel. Provides internal direction and leadership to non-lawyer and lawyer professionals regarding legal matters.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing and overseeing company litigation and disputed matters, including commercial, product liability, employment, antitrust, bankruptcy, and federal and state regulatory inquiries
- Develop and implement litigation and risk management strategies that align with Intuitive's objectives
- Serve as a strategic advisor to legal and business leadership, delivering clear counsel on litigation exposure, risk, and dispute resolution
- Select, manage, and evaluate external legal counsel and external counsel budget to ensure high-quality and efficient representation
- Oversight of dispute and litigation management, including document and discovery management
- Work collaboratively with the legal department on a variety of legal matters
Qualifications:
Skill/Job Requirements:
- At least 8 years of litigation experience, preferably some experience with the medical device industry or highly regulated industries
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Significant trial and arbitration experience
- Track record managing complex, high-stakes litigation in global organizations with expertise across multiple legal areas
- Law firm experience; additional in-house experience preferred
- Ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
- Exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Highly professional, considerate, and motivated to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to develop and implement cross-functional processes
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work proactively to meet internal and external deadline demands
- JD degree
- Admission to the Bar of at least one US jurisdiction
- Some travel required

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target compensation ranges are listed.
Base Compensation Range Region 1: $262,900 USD - $394,300 USD
Base Compensation Range Region 2: $223,400 USD - $335,200 USD

Workplace Type: Set Schedule - This job will be onsite weekly, the percentage of onsite work will be defined by the leader.
