Job Description:Job Summary:
With the supervision of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, provides in-house legal counsel to the organization on matters assigned by the General Counsel from time to time, including healthcare operational and regulatory matters, corporate, employment and litigation matters, matters relating to patient care delivery, privacy and patient rights, and business contracts, arrangements and transactions. Under general supervision: performs legal analysis and legal research and investigation; gives legal advice; develops documentation; participates in committees as assigned; and may represent CNE or its affiliates in various proceedings or negotiations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports the preparation, review, negotiation and coordination of internally and externally prepared contracts and assures that contracts entered into by the organization are legally sound and in accordance with organization policies and State and Federal laws and regulations
- Provides analysis of legal, policy, operational and strategic issues and advises management thereon;
- Writes, edits, and finalizes memoranda, contracts, policies and other documents;
- Participates with teams to study a variety of issues or accomplish specific tasks or projects and provide legal services as needed;
- May represent CNE or its affiliates in administrative or legal proceedings or negotiations;
- Keeps abreast and informs the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of pertinent issues, changes or cases in health law.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited college of law
- 3-5 years relevant work experience preferred
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing in all states where admitted. Member of Rhode Island bar or eligible for admission within one year. Potential to waive this requirement for appropriate candidate if eligible for limited in-house registration in Rhode Island
